Even though 2020 has been a year of a worldwide pandemic, uncertainty, fear, isolation and challenges, Waterford volunteers have been outstanding, first to act on the ground and have gone well above and beyond your usual roles as volunteers.
For 15 years Waterford PPN has recognised the community organisations and volunteers that work tirelessly in their communities. Waterford PPN Community & Voluntary Awards celebrate the significant role volunteer’s play in our communities to improve the quality of life of others around them but 2020 has brought us a challenge there too.
In normal times the awards are celebrated at the annual gala ceremony where over 200 people attend including all nominated groups/volunteers. It is a lovely, vibrant and heart-warming event but sadly this year, due to COVID 19, the awards as we know them cannot happen but the work will not go unrecognised.
We must say a huge thanks to all our very committed sponsors for their continued commitment and support over the years: BHP Insurances, CareChoice, Dungarvan Credit Union; Expressway; Local Link Waterford, Waterford Local Enterprise Office and WLR and Waterford City & County Council. The awards success is testimony to how long these sponsors have supported the community & voluntary sector in Waterford. We hope that we will all come together again in 2021.
The awards will be judged by independent adjudicators and we would like to encourage all community and voluntary organisations to enter..
If you know a group/organisation that you think deserves recognition then get in touch with them to encourage them to enter.
Winners and runners up will be announced in December.
Closing date for receipt of nominations is Wednesday, November 25th, 2020
